Punjab Police arrest terrorist organisations’ sympathiser

In Punjab, Jalandhar Commissionerate Police has arrested one Jaswant Singh Azad, a sympathiser of Chiefs of banned terrorist organisations including Babbar Khalsa International (BKI), Khalistan Zindabad Force and Khalistan Tiger Force, for criminal conspiracy, waging war against the state and unlawful activities. An Italian pistol of 9mm caliber with two loaded magazines of 15 live cartridges have been recovered from his possession.

A British Citizen now, Jaswant Singh had been arrested during a special operation conducted by the police on a specific information. Quoting police sources, AIR Jalandhar Correspondent reports that he was instrumental in contacting kins of deceased terrorists of Punjab to reunite them for terrorist activities. He was also managing the sleeper cells of terrorists by providing them finances, networking, hideouts and was coordinating their activities.

He was financially helping major terrorist modules based in Pakistan for many years. In the last two years he had visited India thrice for creating sleeper cells of terrorist organizations. ADCP (D), Daljinder Singh Dhillon has said that he was also planning to create terror by targeting political leaders and religious figures .

This is the second such arrest in Punjab. Earlier, Ludhiana police had arrested pro-Khalistan militant Daljit Singh Bittu and an alleged hardcore militant, Kulbir Singh Barapind, last month, for their unlawful activities.
