In Punjab, a plan has been chalked out to cook food with the help of a solar steam cooking system in community kitchen (Langer) of Golden Temple, Amritsar. This plan is being given final touches by Punjab Energy Development agency (PEDA). A Faridabad based company has conducted a survey in this regard. The facility to cook food with solar energy will be completed in a phased manner. In the first phase equipment will be installed to cook one ton pulses (daal) for 50 to 60 thousand devotees who partake langer daily in the premises of Golden Temple. According to the sources of PEDA this will save 25 LPG cylinders daily and will keep the environment pollution free. PEDA is going to bear the total cost of the project. This is being done to save the World famous monument Golden temple from ill effects of pollution.
