Punjab monitoring arrangements of wheat procurement

As per the directions of the Chief Minister, his Principal Secretary, Mr. Darbara Singh Guru has started a six-day tour of six districts for reviewing and monitoring the arrangements of wheat procurement for the rabi season. According to official sources, he is discussing all the necessary arrangements required for smooth procurement of wheat with all the Deputy Commissioners and district heads of procurement agencies for the convenience of farmers of the state.<br/>AIR Jalandhar Correspondent reports that it has been learnt that Mr. Guru has told the DCs that no laxity will be tolerated at any level. He has been informed that 35 lakh hectares has been brought under wheat cultivation in the state and 110 lakh metric tonnes is likely to be procured but the state is making arrangements for the procurement of 115 lakh MTs. Today, Mr. Guru is visiting Patiala and would end his tour in Amritsar on Wednesday after visiting Bhatinda and Ferozepur also.
