Punjab Government has increased the various caps of prize money for the medal winner in Commonwealth and Asian games.An official spokesman of the Punjab Government said in Chandigarh that the prize money for the medal winners in Asian Games has been hiked fivefold whereas the prize money for the medal winner in the Commonwealth Games has been increased threefold. He said that now the Asian Gold medal winners would get cash prize of 26, Silver 16 and Bronze 11 lakh rupees. Similarly Commonwealth Games(CWG) Gold medal winners would get a cash prize of 16, Silver 11 and Bronze 6 lakh rupees. Asian and CWG Gold, Silver and Bronze medal winners were earlier awarded with cash prize of Rs. 5 for gold, 3 lakh for silver and 2 lakh for bronze medal . The decision would be effective from November 3. 2010.
