Punjab, Haryana, Chandigarh observe Police Commemorative Day

In Punjab, Haryana and Chandigarh, Police Commemorative Day was observed today. In a state level function in Haryana, the state DGP Ranjiv Singh Dalal today laid a wreath at Shaheedi Samarak at Panchkula Police lines to pay homage to around 574 jawans of various state and Central police and paramilitary forces, who sacrificed their lives in the cause of duty during last year in the country.On this occasion, amidst tunes of patriotic songs the martyrs were also given salute by reversing 21 rifles. The 2 minute silence was also observed to pay respect to the departed souls. In other police lines of the state including Karnal and Faridabad, the martyrs were remembered with great respect. In Chandigarh, the Commemoration Parade was held at Home Guards' ground. The contingents of Chandigarh and Haryana Police participated in the Parade and paid homage to the martyrs by reversing arms. Chandigarh DIG, Alok Kumar lauded sacrifices made by these martyrs while protecting the security and integrity of the country. In Punjab also, the day was observed throughout the state. The families of the departed jawans were given due respect and honoured with gifts on this occasion.
