The Punjab government has doubled the prize money for the Kabaddi World Cup to a whopping two crore rupees . This was announced by the Punjab Deputy Chief Minister and tournament's chairman Sukhbir Singh Badal in Chandigarh on Thursday. The tournament is to be held in various centres of the state from the first of next month. Badal said the runners-up would get one crore rupees and the team finishing third would be richer by 51 lakh rupees. Thirteen teams, including host India, will vie for top honours in the tournament which will run for three weeks. Other teams are Argentina, Pakistan, USA, Canada, UK, Italy, Norway, Afghanistan, Sri Lanka, Australia, Germany and Spain. Badal said, besides the men's event, four women teams will vie for a Prize purse of Rs 25 lakh in the tournament.
