Punjab govt. announces welfare measures for Police

Punjab Deputy Chief Minister Sukhbir Badal has announced a series of welfare measures for Punjab Police. He gave mass promotions to 5199 constables and head constables in a single day on Saturday. The announcement was made during the state level ‘All Rank Welfare Meeting’ held at PAP Complex, Jalandhar.Badal who is also holding the portfolio of state Home Minister said that 6200 constables including 485 lady constables would also be recruited later this month besides filling of more than 6000 posts including 2000 posts of women Constables. Sukhbir Badal said that from now on 5 lack rupees ex-gratia would be given to the Police Personnel, who die while performing active duty and 10 lack rupees to Police personnel who die fighting anti-social elements. To take care of the families of such Police personnel 1 lack will be given for the marriage of their daughters. He said one family member of the Gallantry Award winner would be recruited as Sub Inspector, if found eligible. He said that focusing on up gradation of infrastructure, weaponry and improving the mobility of Police force is another sector which is being taken care off.
