Punjab Government has allotted 50 acre land free of cost to the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) for stationing a battalion permanently at Ladhowal farm in district Ludhiana.A decision to this effect was taken by Punjab Chief Minister Mr.Parkash Singh Badal during a meeting with Director General of NDRF Mr. Parshant Mishra in Chandigarh. He appreciated the relentless services rendered by the Indian Army and NDRF personnel during rescue operation carried out at Jalandhar building collapse tragedy site to save the precious human lives from the debris.Chief Minister announced that new NDRF battalion of 600 youth would be raised through providing 12 weeks training to the police personnel in a phased manner. The Battalion would be equipped with all types of modern equipment used for rescue operations. Mr. Badal mentioned that the battalion of the NDRF stationed in Bathinda had done a commendable job during different rescue operations, like during 2010 floods in the State.
