In Punjab, Government agencies and private millers procured about 25 lakh tonnes of Paddy till Monday evening. A spokesman of Punjab Govt. said at Chandigarh today that out of total procurement in all the 1700 procurement centers of Punjab, Government agencies procured about 97 per cent of the total arrival of Paddy. Five Punjab government agencies and FCI are procuring paddy besides the private millers. The spokesman added that District Ferozepur is leading in procurement operations. Punjab Government has made an arrangement of 17000 crore rupees from Reserve Bank of India for procurement of Paddy.
