Punjab Chief Minister Mr. Parkash Singh Badal on Monday sought immediate revision of the rates of compensation under Calamity Relief Fund. <br/><br/>In a letter to the Prime Minister Dr. Manmohan Singh, Mr. Badal demanded a minimum relief of 10,000 rupees per acre from the Centre. He told Dr. Singh that Punjab had suffered nearly 100% crop loss in 3 lakh acres during recent floods and sowing season for Kharif is already over.<br/><br/>So resowing of crop is not possible now in the affected fields. Mr. Badal urged the Prime Minister to immediately take a decision on the issue, so as to provide requisite relief to the affected farmers. <br/><br/>He said in the letter that compensation of 1600 rupees per acre is not appropriate now as the prices of inputs have increased manifold.
