Setting aside Congress demand to probe multi-crore synthetic drug racket unearthed in Punjab from CBI, Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal has out rightly rejected any possibility of handing the investigation to the Central agency.
The Chief Minister’s statement has come after the main accused in the drug racket, a dismissed Deputy Superintendent of Police Jagdish Bhola had reportedly stated recently that he would disclose the names of some Cabinet Minister of Punjab if the matter is handed over to CBI.
Mr. Badal has said that the state police is efficient enough to investigate the case. He said if Bhola wants to reveal the names of ministers involved, he could do so to Punjab Police.
Congress spokesman Sukhpal Khaira has alleged that by not handing over the probe to CBI, the Chief Minister is shielding his Cabinet colleagues who are involved in this racket.
Punjab Police led by Patiala district Police Chief Hardyal Singh Mann has recently unearthed about 1700 crore rupees synthetic drug racket in state having links in foreign countries.
