Punjab Chief Minister Parkash Badal has blamed the Centre for the rise of Naxalism and Maoism in the country Singh, alleging that the UPA-government had failed to provide basic amenities to its citizens. Talking to media persons in Kapurthala district last evening, he said the state government would not allow terrorism and naxalism to raise its head in Punjab and would fight against these anti national forces. When his attention was drawn towards reports of nexal elements in certain parts of Punjab, he said the state machinery would fight against this menace. Replying to a question on the demand of the Congress for issuance of identity cards to the eligible voters in the SGPC elections, he said there was no need to issue such cards to the sikh voters. <br/>
