Barring stray incidents of violence at some places, the first phase of civic bodies elections in Punjab concluded yesterday. Polling was held for 26 Nagar Panchayats and three Municipal Councils. 80 per cent voters exercised their franchise for this first phase of polling in the state.Repoll has been ordered in a ward in Gannaur Nagar Panchayat in Patiala district.The second round of the two-phase civic polls for Municipal Corporations of Jalandhar, Ludhiana, Amritsar and Patiala will be held on Sunday.
