Barring couple of incidents at Patiala and Jalandhar, the day long Bandh in Punjab has passed off peacefully amidst heavy deployment of security personnel. However, normal life has been disrupted due to non-plying of government and private buses in the required number and closing of business establishments and markets.The bandh call was given by various organisations against the execution of Babbar Khalsa militant, Balwant Singh Rajoana. He has been convicted in the assassination case of former Chief Minister of Punjab, Beant Singh. The court has ordered his execution on Saturday.Banks which were open in the morning were forced to down their shutters by the protesters in afternoon at Jalandhar and some other parts of the state. Protestors, raising slogans, taken out marches on two wheelers and on foot carrying saffron flags and wearing saffron turbans and duppatas. At some of the places in the state, protestors were seen brandishing swords.AIR Correspondent reports that in Jalandhar, a head constable of Punjab Police got hurt while trying to disarm a protestor who was carrying a sword in the mob which was trying to stop a train at Adda Hoshiarpur.
