Punjab and Haryana get some respite from intense cold

People of Punjab and Haryana got some respite from intense cold conditions as the minimum temperature increased by three degrees Celsius. But most parts of the region remained engulfed under a thick blanket of fog today.There was a marginal increase in minimum temperature in the region with the mercury hovering between one to three degrees Celsius below normal. In the plains of two neighbouring states, Ludhiana was coldest with a low of 2.8 degrees Celsius, which was three notches below normal.While Amritsar braved a low of 3.4 degrees Celsius, the minimum temperature at Patiala was 3.9 degrees Celsius, two notches below normal.Among other places, Karnal in Haryana settled at a low of 4.6 degrees Celsius, two notches below normal, followed by 4.9 degrees Celsius at Rohtak and 5.2 degrees Celsius at Chandigarh.In view of reduced visibility, several trains were running late.The MeT forecast dry weather during the next two days with foggy conditions in the region.
