Punjab all set to start 4th World Cup Kabaddi

Punjab is all set for the inauguration of the 4th World Cup Kabaddi tournament at Bhatinda tomorrow. The state Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal would inaugurate the 15-day long mega sports event. The league matches would be played in 13 stadiums. They would be held at Bathinda, Patiala, Chohla Sahib, Hoshiarpur, Gurdaspur, Doda(Muktsar), Amritsar, Jalalabad, Roop Nagar, Sangrur, Mansa, Jalandhar and Ludhiana. The entire tournament would be telecast live not only in the country but also in Canada, USA and UK. Stating this at Bhatinda today, Punjab Kabaddi Association President Sikandar Singh Maluka said 20 teams from 6 continents including last year's champion India, Pakistan, Argentina, America, England, Canada, Sierra Leone, Iran, Denmark, Kenya, Spain, Scotland would vie for men title. The Women's section would have the teams of India, Pakistan, Mexico, New Zealand, Kenya, America, England and Denmark. The men's title winning team would get a cash prize of two crore rupees and in women category one crore rupees would be given. The first and second runners up teams in both sections would also be awarded sizeable cash prizes. Maluka said 15 lakh rupees would be given to teams of Argentina, Canada, America, Mexico, Sierra Leone asguarantee money whereas 10 lakh rupees would be given to remaining teams. The Punjab Kabaddi Association President also said anyone found guilty of taking drugs would be banned for two years, besides curtailment of prize money.
