In IPL Cricket, holders Mumbai Indians began their title defence last night with a 9-wicket defeat at the hands of new entrants Rising Pune Supergiants in the tournament opener at Mumbai. Opting to bat, Mumbai posted 121 for 8 courtesy an end-of-innings 45 not out by Harbhajan Singh. Ishant Sharma and Mitchell Marsh bagged 2 wickets each for Pune captained by Mahendra Singh Dhoni.In reply, riding on a superb 78-run opening wicket stand between Ajinkhya Rahane and Faf du Plessis, Pune overhauled the target with more than 5 overs to spare. Rahane top scored with an unbeaten 66, while Du Plessis made 34. Harbhajan took the wicket of Du Plessis.Rahane was adjudged man of the match.Today, Kolkata Knight Riders will take on Delhi Daredevils at Kolkata at 8 PM.
