Pune landslide: 31 bodies recovered, Home Minister visits site

Thirty one bodies have been recovered and eight injured people have been pulled out from the debris of the landslide that swamped Malin village in Pune district of Maharashtra yesterday.

Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh visited the village and announced an assistance of Rs. two lakh to the next of the kin of the deceased from Prime Minister's Relief Fund. The Home Minister added that the Prime Minister had also assured all possible assistance to the state government in dealing with the natural calamity. Mr. Singh said, he will discuss with the Prime Minister about giving a special package for rehabilitation of the village .

Meanwhile, chances of finding more survivors appeared slim, as fresh showers and bursts of torrential rain have made the task more difficult.
