In Puducherry, battle lines have been drawn with the ruling congress and the opposition All India NR congress forming alliances, as filing of nominations came to a close this evening. Former Chief Minister Mr. N. Rangaswamy led NR congress entered into a seat sharing agreement with the AIADMK this morning. According to the deal, the NR congress will be contesting in 17 seats and aiadmk has been allotted 13 seats.Meanwhile, the left parties which are a part of the AIADMK front in neighbouring Tamil Nadu has convened a meeting of the Puducherry executive committee this evening, to decide on the strategy for this election.The CPM state secretary Mr. Perumal told our correspondent that the party had sought three seats and were still waiting for a response from the AIADMK.The Ruling congress which had allotted 10 seats to the DMK has entered into an agreement with the PMK and VCK forging a formidable alliance. The congress is contesting 17 seats, one more than it did in 2006 assembly elections.
