Puducherry Lieutenant Governor Dr Tamilisai Soundararajan inaugurated the River Festival 2021 at the villyanur Thirukanchi Temple today evening. <br />'' <br />'' As a part of the Azadi Ka  Amrit mahotsav, to celebrate India 's 75th year of independence,  the Puducherry Tourism Department organised the  Sankaraparani River Festival –  2021 in villianur commune –   thirukanchi Gangai varaha Nadeeswarar temple.<br />'' <br />'' To create awareness on river rejuvenation and rainwater harvesting a cleaning camp was also organised along with  sapling  planting program at  the Sankarabharani worship event.<br />'' <br />'' Thousands of people witnessed the presentations, by folk artists like karagattam, mayilattam and dances.<br />'' <br />'' Chief Minister Rangasamy,  Assembly speaker selvam, Ministers Jeyakumar, Lakshmi Narayanan took part in the function.<br />'' <br />'' Similarly Transport Minister Chandra Priyanka inaugurated the Cauvery River Festival at Tirumallaru in Karaikal district. Puducherry Member of Parliament Vaithilingam, legislators and officials participated in the festival. Under the joint aegies of the ministry of Jal Shakti, Ministry of Culture, the river festival was organised by the Puducherry Tourism  department.
