Moderate to heavy rains are lashing Karaikal today, the outlying enclave of Puducherry, while Puducherry today had only mild showers. The Government is continuing its vigil as MeT office has predicted more rains in both Puducherry and Karaikal.<br/><br/>Puducherry Tourism Minister P Rajavelu today said that a sum of Rs 14.57 crores is to rebuild the damaged tourist spots. <br/><br/>Many a tourist spot including Paradise Beach and Chunnambaar Boat House are badly damaged in the incessant rains, the Minister said. This is a severe blow to the Union Territory which depend heavily on Tourism for employment and revenue.<br/><br/>Meanwhile Puducherry State BJP today asked the Union Territory Government to revisit its decision to pay uniform relief assistance to all ration card holders. Bharatiya Janata Party State Secretary V Swaminathan asked the Government to give higher amount to workers of unorganised sector and daily wagers instead of giving equal amount to all. <br/>Pradesh Congress Committee president Namassivayan criticised the administration for not disbursing any compensation till now. The relief had to be given when people are in need, he said
