In Puducherry, Chief Minister Mr N. Rangaswamy who also holds the finance portfolio will present the full budget for the current fiscal in the state assembly on the 24th of this month. This is first budget for the new government which swept to power in the elections held in April this year. Earlier, on Thursday, the Lt Governor Mr. Iqbal Singh in his customary address marking the beginning of the session said the government proposes to set up a separate department for the development of minorities and backward classes. He said the territorial administration is speeding up the implementation of the Right to Free and Compulsory Education Act and said steps have been initiated to constitute a Right to Education Protection Authority.
