Puducherry CM appeals centre to grant more concessions for industrialists

Puducherry Chief Minister Rangaswamy appealed to the centre to grant more concessions and tax incentives to enable industrialists to start their units in the Union Territory. Inaugurating a two-day inter-active session on GST organised by the Commercial Taxes Department in Puducherry, today, he said the scope for levying new taxes and revision of taxes in Puducherry is very limited. The centre should, therefore, extend tax concessions and incentives so that more industies could come up, he added. Against the earlier apprehension the revenue of the U.T has increased by 30 per cent after the implementationof VAT in 2007. Later talking to reporters, the Chief Minister said the cabinet expansion will be completed by 27th of this month. It may be recalled Rengasamy alone was sworn in on May 16.
