In Puducherry, campaigning for the bye-election to the Indira Nagar Assembly constituency which goes to the polls on Thursday comes to a close this evening. Seven candidates including contestants from the ruling NR Congress, Congress and AIADMK are in the fray. The Puducherry Collector and Election Officer Mr Deepak Kumar told newsmen today that two companies of paramilitary forces along with the local police will be deployed to ensure a free and fair poll. He said two cases of violations of the model code of conduct including one against Chief Minister N.Rangaswamy have been received and action is being taken on it.
