The month-long budget session of the Puducherry Assembly begins today. The Chief Minister V. Vaithilingam, who also holds the Finance portfolia, will present the Budget 2010-2011 in the Assembly this morning. This is the 2nd consecutive budget being presented by him after assuming the charge in September 2008. The Budget is expected to be tax-free and people-friendly.

However, with the Opposition likely to rake-up several issues like price rise, provision of free colour television sets as promised during the last Lok Sabha elections and also the ongoing Government employees strike, the Session would be a stormy one.
