The Puducherry Assembly was adjourned sine-die today. During the 13 day Budget session, the Chief Minister Mr.Rangasamy who holds the Finance portfolio presented the Budget for the year 2012 – 13 on 16th July. The House also passed the VAT Bill 2012 envisaging the enhancement of tax from 4% to 5% for certain items. On the last day today, the House passed a resolution urging the Centre to confer Statehood to Puducherry.
