In Puducherry, Chief Minister Mr.N.Rangasamy today unfurled the National Tricolour at Uppalam Indira Gandhi Sports Complex on the occasion of the 68th Independence Day. He inspected the customary Guard of Honour presented by the Puducherry Police. Addressing the gathering, the Chief Minister remembered the great services of Freedom fighters and those who laid down their lives for the cause of freedom and exhorted fellow countrymen to uphold their spirit. He listed various welfare measures initiated by his Government last year and schemes in the offing. Various programmes are being implemented for farming and animal husbandry sectors, he said. Chief Minister pointed out that his government is providing special attention for the development of SC/ST, backward classes and differently able.The Chief Minister gave away awards to Police and Coast Guard personnel, NCC Cadets and Health Workers for their meritorious service.
