In Jammu and Kashmir, public transport has been paralysed in the entire state today due to the strike by transporters. The transporters are demanding revision of passenger fare keeping in view the escalation in the prices of fuel.About 10,000 private buses, matadors and other modes of public transport are off the roads, causing severe hardship to commuters. The state government has invited the leaders of the Transporter Unions for talks in Srinagar today to tide over the crisis. AIR Jammu Correspondent reports that people and school going children in large numbers, were waiting at bus stops for the vehicles to reach their destinations. Office goers faced tough time in the morning due to non availability of transport and were seen trekking down the distance on foot.
