Public service ‘guaranteed’ in MP from today

In Madhya Pradesh, the State Public Services Guarantee Act is being implemented from today. Our Bhopal correspondent reports that the Act provides guarantee for delivery of public services to the common man within a specific timeframe. Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan will formally launch the Act in Bhopal. Initially 26 services of nine departments of the state departments have been covered. The Act provides for fine against the concerning officer for failing to provide information within the specified time frame. The amount of fine will be given to the applicant. A separate Public Service Management Department has been established for effective implementation of the Act. It is being hoped that the Act will help to contain corruption and bring accountability and transparency.
