In commemoration of Mahatma Gandhi's first visit to the Broadcasting House, New Delhi on 12th November, 1947, All India Radio has instituted Gandhian Philosophy and Public Service Broadcasting Awards in 2001. Since then, every year, these awards are announced on 12th November.

This year, in the category of Gandhiyan Philosophy, programme from All India Radio, Bengaluru “AHIMSEYA PRAVADI” has won the award. In the category of Public Service Broadcasting, programme of All India Radio, Jalandhar “PATJHAR BANE BASANT” has bagged the award.
