Public Service Broadcasting awards announced

Public Service Broadcasting Day was observed today commemorating Mahatma Gandhi’s visit to All India Radio, New Delhi, on this day, in 1947. Addressing the celebrations held in New Delhi, Brigadier V A M Hussain, Member, Prasar Bharati Board, emphasized the need for a braver and more realistic Prasar Bharati. He also recalled the role of All India Radio in uniting families during partition days, and also in the successful implementation of the Green Revolution.

Mr. Tripurari Sharan, DG, Doordarshan said that amidst proliferation of choices for information, Public broadcasting service can provide reliable and impartial education and entertainment. Speaking at the occasion of the celebrations organized by Broadcasting Engineers Society (India), BES, he stressed on the optimal role of the State in the dissemination of information with a powerful Public broadcasting system.

Mr. Rahul Dev, eminent journalist spoke on the need to use optimally the immense technical and human resources available with Prasar Bharati. Mr. R. K. Sinha, President, BES, Mr. V.K Singla, Chairman, Seminar Committee, BES, and Mr. P.K. Singh, Hon. Secretary, BES were also present on the occasion.
