President Pranab Mukherjee has asked the Central Public Sector Enterprises, CPSEs, to upgrade their technological models to realize their growth potential. Addressing a function on Public Sector Day this afternoon in New Delhi, Mr Mukherjee also asked the CPSEs to increase foreign cooperation through greater investment. Expressing concern over under performance of certain public enterprises, the President said there is a need to revive stagnant companies to propel them. Mr Mukherjee said CPSEs should discharge their corporate social responsibility in the thrust areas of health, education and environmental upgradation.Speaking on the occasion , Minister of Heavy Industries and Public Enterprises, Praful Patel said there is a need to redefine role of public sector in the economy of the country. Mr Patel said the government is working to evolve a dynamic and flexible approach for public private partnership between CPSEs and private sector.
