Mortal remains of legendary vocalist Pandit Bhimsen Joshi were consigned to flames in Pune in presence of thousands of people with state honor on Monday afternoon. Chief Minister of Maharashtra Mr. Pruthviraj Chavan , foreign affairs minister Mr. S. M. Krishna, and many dignitaries in the field of music and culture expressed their grief on the occasion. Panditiji’s elder son Raghvendra Joshi had performed the last rites. Pandit Bhimsen Joshi passed away at a city hospital in Pune this morning after a prolonged illness.
