The Resourcesat -2, India’s latest remote sensing satellite has been successfully placed in by the Polar Satellite Launch Vehicle, PSLV C-16. Addressing a press conference in Sriharikota on Wednesday, the Director, ISRO Satellite Centre Dr Alex said that the solar panels of Resouresat-2 have been deployed and are working excellently.Later speaking exclusively to AIR Dr Alex said that 15 countries which have ground stations established by ISRO, regularly use data from Resource-1 and are awaiting data from Resourcesat-2. He also said that other countries buy the satellite images on payment. He said that India is the world leader in the area of global earth observation and remote sensing technology. He also spoke about Chandrayan-2 and India’s collaboration with NASA for its moon mission.Prime Minister Dr Manmohan Singh has congratulated the scientists and engineers of ISRO. Dr Singh said the flawless launch of three satellites by PSLV has yet again demonstrated the space body's advanced capabilities. In a message, he commended the Indian Space Research Organisation for the achievement and its continuing service to the nation.
