Punjab Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal has said that Punjab Government have directed the Chairman Punjab State Electricity Board to coordinate with the Chairman and Managing Director of the Nuclear Power Corporation of India for the selection of a site for a Nuclear Plant to be set up in the state.<br/><br/>In a letter written to Union Power Minister Mr. Sushil Kumar Shinde he said that Punjab was a densely populated state and most of the area was under intensive cultivation, due to which the whole exercise of selection of a site was taking some time. He, however, reiterated that the state was very serious in finding a suitable site for setting up of a nuclear power plant in Punjab.<br/><br/>The Chief Minister further said that the Union Ministry of Power was vigoursly pursuing the proposals to set up nuclear power stations in the country.
