Chairman of the National Commission for Scheduled Castes P.L. Punia says, the time has come for providing job reservation for Scheduled casts in private sector also. Paying tributes to Dr. Bhim Rao Ambekdkar, he said Baba Saheb had worked for a casteless society and he was very clear that scheduled castes should be given proper representation in public service and in political sphere as well. This was the reason he made provision of reservation for them in the constitution.

In a special interview with AIR, Punia said by including fundamental rights in the constitution, Ambedkar gave a new vision of social equality. He was a crusader of Human Rights. As he himself came from deprived class, he was aware of the feelings of this class. That is why he left no stone unturned to do justice with them, Punia said.
