Protests over Cauvery water sharing in karnataka turn violent; Curfew imposes in parts of Bengaluru

In Karnataka, one person was killed and another injured in police firing in Bengaluru as the Cauvery water sharing row with Tamil Nadu turned violent on Monday. Police opened fire when a mob tried to attack a patrol vehicle at Hegganahalli in Rajagopal Nagar police limits. Night curfew has been imposed in 16 police station areas after Bengaluru witnessed widespread violence. The prohibitory orders under Section 144 has been imposed in the entire city till tomorrow.<br/><br/>The Centre has rushed 10 companies of Rapid Action Force to Karnataka to control the situation. Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh also called up Chief Ministers of Karnataka and Tamil Nadu last night and assured them all central assistance in handling the situation. More than 80 vehicles were burnt or damaged in the violent incidents that rocked Bengaluru, Mandya, Mysuru and some other districts of Karnataka.
