Protests organised against baton-charge on BHU students

In Uttar Pradesh, protests against baton charge on students were organised today at Banaras Hindu University, BHU and different parts of the Varanasi town. <br/><br/>Police detained over 100 people and sent them to police lines. Later on they were released.<br/><br/>Governor Ram Naik today said that a four member committee under chairmanship of Chief Secretary has been set up to probe into the Banaras Hindu University incidents and action will be taken on the basis of probe committee report. <br/><br/>Talking to media persons at Lucknow today, Mr Naik termed police lathi charge as a serious incident. <br/><br/>Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has sought report from Varanasi Commissioner about police lathi charge on students and injury to journalists.<br/><br/>Three administrative and police officers were removed in connection with BHU incidents including an Additional City Magistrate, Circle Officer Bhelupur and SHO Lanka police station. <br/><br/>Large posse of security force is deployed in and around the BHU campus to maintain peace and get the hostels vacated after announcement of closure of University till October 2.
