Protests continue in Rayalseema, coastal regions for ‘United Andhra’

In Andhra Pradesh, the protests are continuing in Rayalaseema and Coasta regions against formation of separate Telangana state.<br/><br/>Chief Minister K Rosaiah has called on the state governor N D Tiwari this evening and explained him about the situation in the state.<br/><br/>Earlier, at a review meeting on Law and Order, the Chief Minister was told that the situation will come to normalcy soon.<br/><br/>Home minister Sabitha Reddy and Director General of Police have also attended the meeting.<br/><br/>The IG Law and Order Anuradha later told reporters that the situation was by and large peaceful on Wednesday in the state and under control.<br/><br/>Stating that the condition was still tense in the University campuses at Visakhapatnam, Tirupathi and Ananthpur, she said Government and private properties at 7 places including Doordarshan reception center at Nandyal have been damaged due to agitation.<br/><br/>On the other hand, pressing for the Unified State, fast unto death launched by Vijayawada Lok Sabha Member L Rajagopal and several other MLAs has continued on Wednesday.<br/><br/>Meanwhile, Praja Rajyam Party has postponed its decision over Telangana for few more days following resentment over reconsideration of its earlier stand on Telangana.<br/><br/>Party President Chiranjeevi said he would take a decision only after taking the views of people from all sections into consideration.<br/><br/>AIR Correspondent reports, the political impasse in the state over formation of separate Telangana is still continuing as the supporters of the Unified State and that of Telangana have reinforced their stand.<br/><br/>The divided opinion among the leaders and public representatives across the party lines is posing a major challenge to their respective leadership.<br/><br/>The supporters of the unified state are pressing for reviewing the earlier stand on Telangana in their party while those who want separate Telangana state are opposing the move.<br/><br/>Following this, the Political parties included Telugu Desam and Praja Rajyam have postponed their decision over reviewing their earlier stand on Telangana issue.<br/><br/>On the other hand, unrelenting efforts are continuing in Rayalaseema and Coasta Andhra regions of the state by way of public dissent against the process to carve out Telangana state.<br/><br/>Joint Action Committees have been formed with the public representatives across the party lines to take the agitation forward in support of the unified state.
