In Jammu & Kashmir, the standoff involving the NIT administration and the non-local students continued at the National Institute of Technology (NIT) Srinagar with non local students boycotting their classes on 5th consecutive day. The student groups including women tried to march outside the campus in the morning. <br/><br/>However, the security forces deployed at campus did not allow them to come out of the campus main gate. No untoward incident was reported. The local students have been attending the classes following the NIT administration call.<br/><br/>The situation turned unpleasant on March 31 following the T20 World Cup semi final match. Chairman NIT Board of Governors M J Zarabi, directors Sanjeev Sharma and Faizal Mehmood arrived in Srinagar on Wednesday to take stock of the situation at the NIT.<br/><br/>The government says it is closely monitoring the situation in the Institute. The state administration, officials of the Union Human Resource Development (HRD) Ministry and NIT are involved in resolving all the issues pertaining to the NIT unrest.<br/>The government has already ordered a time bound magisterial inquiry into the incident seeking report within 15 days.<br/><br/>Police authorities said they were analyzing the contents of video footage showing violence by non local students. The video went viral on social networking sites purportedly released by the Police. <br/><br/>Two FIRs have been registered at local Nigeen Police station against those who resorted to vandalism, damaging public property and creating law and order situation within NIT campus. The police said the mild action of lathicharge on Tuesday was to avoid a major law and order problem that could have spilled over to the streets in the area.<br/><br/>CRPF & SSB personnel have been deployed inside the campus while J&K Police personnel are stationed at the gates of the campus.
