In Uttar Pradesh pilgrims and saints have raised their hands against pollution in river Ganga at Muzaffarnagar district.<br/> It was said that large number of pilgrims were thronged at the Bank of river Ganga at famous pilgrimage Shukrataal on the occasion of Amavasya but huge amount of fishes were found dead at the river. Pilgrims denied to take bath in the river due to pollution and raised their arms. After preliminary inquiry, it was revealed that chemical discharge from sugar mills and other factories based at Lashkar in Uttarakhand have caused the immediate pollution of river water and death of fishes.<br/> After visiting the area senior officers immediately approached Haridwar administration for releasing about one thousand cusecs of water in the Badganga to clean the impact of chemicals at Shukrataal at Muzaffarnagar. Steps have also been taken to stop chemical discharge from factories but it will take time in removing adverse impact of factories contaminated discharge at the river Ganga in Muzaffarnagar.
