Protesting AI pilots’ approach govt for talks

The striking Air India pilots today approached the Government for talks after the Supreme Court refused to initiate contempt proceedings against them and instead asked the airline to negotiate. The agitating pilots made the first move for talks to end the impasse.The spokesman of the Indian Pilots Guild, Tauseef Mukaddam which is spearheading the agitation said, IPG has sought time to hold talks with Civil Aviation Minister Ajit Singh. He has offered them to come forward for talks.

Earlier, Refusing to disturb the ongoing training of Air India pilots on advanced Boeing 777 to be used in international flights, the Delhi High Court today stayed further training of more pilots till implementation of Justice Dharmadhikari panel recommendations on the issue. Mr. Justice Suresh Kait however said, those who have already taken the training on advance aircraft shall be subject to the outcome of the instant petition.

Earlier in the day Supreme court refused to intervene in the stir by a section of Air India pilots even as Government offered to hold talks with them if they return to work.
