Protest outside AIR Dharwad seeking PM's intervention in Kalasa Banduri water dispute

The members of Mahadayi Kalasa Banduri agitation Committee staged protest in front of Dharwad All India Radio today, seeking Prime Minister Narendra Modi's intervention in solving the inter state Kalasa Banduri Mahadayi water dispute.<br/><br/>Addressing the gathering, the Convener of the Committee, Swamy Basavaraj Devaru blamed Central and State governments for not addressing the water needs put forward by agitators since last five months. He informed that they will intensify their agitation from January 1st by blocking highways leading to Goa. <br/><br/>The state is seeking permission to build a barrage across Kalasa-Banduri tributaries of Mahadayi river to divert 7.6 TMC feet water for drinking water to the water starved four districts of North Karnataka. Mahadayi river which originates in Karnataka, flows in Goa and Maharashtra.
