Protest for united Andhra goes on

In Andhra Pradesh, the agitation in favour of Unified State is continuing in Rayalaseema and Coasta Andhra regions even as fasting Congress leaders Lagadapati Rajagopal in Vijayawada and Y.S. Vivekananda Reddy, brother of former Chief Minister Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy, in Kadapa, were forcibly shifted to hospitals yesterday as their health deteriorated. However, both the leaders continued fast in hospitals, refusing to undergo treatment. In response to a petition moved by supporters of Rajgopal, the State Human Rights Commission directed the Government to consider the MP’s plea to shift him to the Nizam’s Institute of Medical Sciences (NIMS) in Hyderabad. On the other hand, condemning the arrests of the leaders, an all-party committee spearheading the United Andhra movement called for a 48-hour bandh in Kadapa district while bandh is already being observed in Krishna and Guntur districts.

Meanwhile, the Polite Bureau of Telangana Rastra Samithi (TRS) is convening a meeting today to decide the party’s future course of action in the wake of agitation for the Unified.
