Protest demonstrations continue in support of statehood for Telangana

In Andhra Pradesh, protest demonstrations are continuing in support of statehood for Telangana even as bandh has been called for Wednesday in Telangana Region by the all party Telangana Joint Action Committee, demanding the Centre to announce a specific time-frame for carving out Telangnana State. Propitiatory orders under section 144 have been clamped in Hyderabad and 9 other districts in the region for one week to prevent any out break of violence during Wednesday’s bandh. JAC Convenor, Prof Kothandaram, appealed to the people to voluntarily take part in the bandh and make it a peaceful demonstration in favour of Telangana state. On the other hand Hyderabad Police Commissioner Prasada Rao said the police are fully prepared for Tuesday’s Bandh.<br/>Meanwhile, the Ministers belonging to Telangana region who tendered their resignation have decided not to attend Cabinet meeting scheduled for Wednesday. Meanwhile, the agitation by the students on the Osmania University Campus in Hyderabad has gained momentum in favour of bifurcation of the state. <br/><br/>
