Protest demonstrations continue in support of statehood for Telangana

In Andhra Pradesh, protest demonstrations are continuing in support of statehood for Telangana even as the agitation by the students on the Osmania University Campus in Hyderabad has gained momentum in favour of bifurcation of the state. Meanwhile, Congress MPs belonging to Telangana region have urged the state Government to give permission to the proposed student convention on January 3rd on the campus. MPs who have called on Chief Minister Rosaiah on Tuesday morning have also asked him to stop registering cases against students in the back drop of the agitation. On the other hand, the Ministers who tendered resignation from the state cabinet have convened a meeting on Tuesday in Hyderabad. They are reportedly discussing the deliberations held with the senior leaders of Congress party in Delhi to announce a clear time-frame for carving out Telangana state.
