Prospects of Vizag becoming int'l city brightens after IFR-2016: Venkaiah Naidu

Union Parliamentary Affaris and Urban Development Minister M. Venkaiah Naidu has said that with the conduct of IFR-2016 in Visakhapatnam, the Port City has brightened its chances of becoming an international city in the near future. Mr. Naidu was in Visakhapatnam yesterday to have a glimpse of the Operational Demo and International City Parade of the Indian Navy and participating nations in the IFR.

Rejecting the allegations of some political parties, he said the list of smart cities finalised and notified for Centre's support was held in a transparent manner.

Those cities which could not make it to the first list can still better their chances and compete again as the GoI is giving another opportunity for them.

He also made it clear that the development in the selected smart cities is not going to be decided or directed by the Union government at all and it is only left to the respective State governments and the urban development agencies.

The Centre only extends cooperation, he added. The Union Minister was hopeful that the GST and Real Estate Bills would get approval of the House in the coming session of the Parliament and called up on all political parties to make it possible by extending their cooperation as Bills are only meant for the betterment of the administrative system in the country and nothing else.
