United Nations says, proposed US funding cuts would make its work impossible as United States is the largest contributor to the UN budget.<br/><br/>UN spokesman, Stephane Dujarric said in New York that President Donald Trump's huge proposed cuts in US funding for the United Nations would make it impossible for the world organisation to carry out essential work to promote peace, combat poverty and provide humanitarian assistance.<br/><br/>He said the UN need resources to deliver on its mandates. The budget submitted on Monday for the US fiscal year starting October 1 would cut funding for UN peacekeeping over 50 per cent.<br/><br/>The United States is the largest contributor to the U.N. budget. It currently pays 25 per cent of the United Nations' 5.4 billion US dollars regular operating budget and over 28 per cent of the separate 7.8 billion US dollar peacekeeping budget.
