Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik has urged the Centre not to implement a draft notification on River Regulation Zone issued by the Ministry of Environment, Forests and Climate Change under the Environment (Protection) Act, 1986. <br/><br/>In a letter to Prime Minister Narendra Modi yesterday, Patnaik stated that approximately 1 lakh 8 thousand square kilometre out of the State's total area of about 1 lakh 56 thousand square kilometre will be affected by the proposed notification. <br/><br/>The letter said the notification will prevent progress of developmental activities in the State and the proposed notification is non-implementable in its present form.
