Proposed NCTC evokes mixed reactions among pol parties

The Congress today said that terrorism is a serious challange before the country and the government is taking all steps to fight this menace.Talking to reporters outside Parliament, Party Spokesman Rashid Alvi suggested an effective law to deal with it. He accused BJP for not being serious in the fight against terrorism.

On the other hand, BJP crticized the Congress led UPA government for operationalizing the National Counter Terrrorism Centre, NCTC without
addressing the concerns of the States, which have raised concerns over this issue. Senior Party leader Venkiah Naidu alleged that the proposed NCTC is direct assault on the federal structure of the Constitution.

While Smajawadi Party leader Mohan Singh said that party will press for considering those provisions which are encroaching the rights of States.

BSP leader Satish Mishra said his party is against encroachment of the rights of the states. He said the Prime Minister has assured Parliament that the government will move forward on the issue of NCTC by holding consultations with the concerned states.
